Hey, so you have pits and rats, They are some kind of combo huh? I read below about you not wanting one at 1st but your husband talked you into it. Same here! My husband wanted one and had for years I have never been the type to judge a breed of dog, But was leary. He had a friend that was a breeder and we got our 1st one. My mom freaked!!! Majorly!!!
I watched his every move and come to find out he was a wuss!! lol
People think because they have an attitude with another dog they will with a child!! NOT TRUE!!! I hate more than anything to hear a dog get into it on tv and the judge say what if that had been a child!!! They (most of the time) Love people Hate dogs! Just because they will jump a dog has nothing to do with them being vicitious toward people!! Our male we have now is 10 a big baby and you would have to go through alot of people including my mom to hurt him!!! 
I really dont believe my rt's would bite but I know they would befour my PB would!
