Posted by Aline I recently got a puppy mix (boston terrier and pekepoo) and she's our family's very first pet. She is 6wks old, and we have her on a chain in the yard, with a doghouse. She's doing really well, only whining for a little while, then going in her doghouse and sleeping. It seems kind of cruel to us to keep her this way, but its the only option we have. We are constantly taking turns going outside during the day to play with her, but we were told to leave her on the leash for at least 3 days without taking her off in order to leash break her. Is this correct? Any tips to help her with the adjustment? Also, she's on a $4 chain from walmart (not sure that makes a difference or not) and I looked out the window one minute & she's on the chain barking & pulling, and the next minute she was on our porch at the door! She somehow got loose! We should have named her Houdini. A kennel would be ideal, but we just can't afford that right now. Any tips? The chain did not break anywhere, we were able to just hook it right back up. How the heck could that have happened?? The kids like to think she is magic.
