I hope this gets to Patrick and his wonderful wife
Thank you Patrick for taking the time to talk with me and for inviting my daughter Rachael and I to the after show get together in Orlando-the concert was outstanding.
I shared with Patrick that I became a Live fan after the death of my son Nathan. Nathan was our oldest child and only boy -we are blessed with five daugters (all Live fans)
Nathan was a junior at Penn State in 1997 -he was awarded an internship in upsate New York to work for an engineering firm. They gave him a house on Lake Owasco-on February 22nd Nathan took a small boat out on the lake. A storm came over the area and Nathan's boat capsized. Because of the cold and dept of water his body was not recoverd until August.
When I arrived at his house on February 23rd I went through his things -Nathan loved music-on his CD player were two CD's-Pearl Jam and Live.
It's difficult to explain-however-as a father who lost a child I try to somehow stay connected to Nathan-I read his letters-I look at pictures -and I listen to that CD.
Over the past years I have grown to really enjoy Live's music. Have taken my daughters to see them a number of times and always buy the latest CD.
Patrick and his wife took the time to listen to my story. It was a busy day for him-he certainly could have just said hi and moved on.
He didn't-he even took time to remember me and leave a pass at the box office.
You never know what life will bring you. Musicians sometimes have a perception of being above or distant. This man and his wife made a wonderful gesture to me and my daughter. He is a great bass player and I wish him and the band continued success. I wish God's blessings on Patrick and his family. He is the real deal.
