Posted by Stephanie on 11/24/2002, 1:29 am The opening band was called ArmsBendBack, a four-piece out of Philly and I believe Chad Taylor has worked with them...that's what I heard, not exactly sure. I have to say I wasn't all that thrilled with them. The singer sounded way out of tune and when they got into hardcore growling and screeching (which I don't mind to an extent. I actually liked the bassist's backing vocal 'growling' LOL) I thought my ears were gonna bleed. He sounded just plain bad. The music was ok, your basic rock/hardcore. And they had a nice slow song at the end. The bassist was ok and his pick-played basslines went well with the songs. I just didn't care for them much...though I applaud the band on their energy which was great. The second opening band was Falcon Jones right from Lancaster. Chad Taylor produced their CDs. I really liked their live act. This was my first time seeing them after hearing so much about them. I practically watched the bassist's fingers the whole time LOL. I loved his right-hand technique. Heh don't ask. It just kinda reminded me of Pat's playing in the early days. Anyway...on to LIVE!!...And what a show it was! Man, I wish I had the energy to jump and dance around and stuff because the music was making me want to. The band themselves were full of energy and got into the music. Here is the setlist: Intro: I've taken a liking to the intro. When I hear Tricky going "someone..." it gets me psyched and ya know the show is starting! Simple Creed: The Intro goes right into SC. This song rocked as usual. Like A Soldier: I love this song in concert, esp. the chorus ("I-i-i-i-will go on, etc..."). The crowd got into the song and everyone was jumping up and down. All Over You: Crowd favorite, of course. Selling The Drama: I'm so used to this song being played in concert, but it's always a pleaser because I love the bassline (well, duh!) They Stood Up For Love: This song is just so great in concert. Railo wasn't there for keyboards (I heard he's off working with Ozzy Osbourne now) so it sounded a bit different then what I'm used to hearing. I'd say it rocked even more! Lots of energy and love poured into the audience. Voodoo Lady: One for the ladies...sexy bassline...hehe... The Beauty Of Gray: Here's what everyone's been wanting for the longest time- a song off Mental Jewelry...and we got it!!! Yes! Let's get all sentimental and remember the good ol' days. I was so happy they played this. I first saw LIVE in '97 at the same exact place (Franklin & Marshall College) and they played that song then and I haven't heard it in concert ever since. So it was just perfect to hear it. Turn My Head: Hmm...yeah...I cried here. "I can't forget you but I can't remember". *sigh* And one of my favorite bass parts (the ending of the verse when Pat goes up high on the G string). Lakini's Juice: Another crowd favorite and always a rocker. Pat was playing his Lakland again for this song. I remember in August he was playing a borrowed Fender for the song, reminiscent of the Secret Samadhi days. Like I Do: I think that's the name of the song. Ed's voice sounded a little muffled to me and I didn't really catch what he was saying LOL. Well, it's a new song! YAY! And it rocks! It makes me really look forward to Album 6 Lightning Crashes: I've been hearing this song at every single concert since I started going to LIVE shows so I'm pretty used to it. But I have to say the crowd always loves it. And of course I alway look forward to hearing the bass part in the interlude because it kicks ass! The Dolphin's Cry: Don't ask me why, but I got teary-eyed during this song. This song has never made me cry so I dunno what that was about LOL. Just seemed very emotional to me then. *shrug*. One thing I love in this song is Chad Taylor's guitar part in the interlude. And for live show's he's always altered it and it never sounded like it does in the recording. But this night he played it somewhat the same (though not quite) but the guitar was a little heavier. White, Discussion: I'm glad they've gotten back into playing this song because it just plain rocks. It takes you back in time. Shit Towne: Of course they had to play this to the hometown crowd! YAY! Run To The Water: And once again folks, I cried. I actually broke down for this song LOL. It gets me every time. The bass, the guitars, the lyrics, everything about it is just plain emotional and beautiful. What a work of art. What beautiful colors being painted in the air. *sigh* Life Marches On: Another new song. Guys, this new album is just rocking so far! I see it as a blend of all their previous albums yet totally unique unto itself. Rock on! I Alone: I like the little part Pat plays before this song begins. Ed sang his usual little "Evolution Revolution Love" medley in the song. All in all, it was a wonderful night. Great friends and great music = a memorable, rocking night. I was so happy as well that my brother (who hasn't seen LIVE in 4 years. This was only his 3rd show as well) got to finally meet Pat. It meant a lot to me. He's still boasting about it to everyone hehe. Thanks to everyone who made my great time possible. You know who you are. Love, Link: Patrick Dahlheimer Online
