Posted by Stephanie on 1/16/2003, 12:34 am I received my copy of Texas Jerry's EP, "You & i", in the mail yesterday and am enjoying it very much. The first thing you hear when you pop in this CD is a few bars of quiet guitar and then the bass comes in heavy. And then Elyssa's powerful voice. The second track, "What If" really brings this out. And as you listen further the rhythm section explodes. I have to say with Shawn Williams and Pat sharing bass duty on this album, it's bound to groove. I'd also like to make note of the strong lyrical content. Songs like "Not Like This" are direct ("We can't go on, no we can't go on like this" is so true, speaking of the state of the world.). The music on the last track, "Suffering", was written by our very own Patrick Dahlheimer. It's quickly becoming my favorite song on the EP. I do believe he plays the guitar on the song. It's really refreshing to hear what Pat can do outside of Live. I am proud that I've followed Texas Jerry throughout the making of this EP, remembering when they were still working hard in the studio. It's exciting when you get to hear the completed project. I look forward to more of Texas Jerry.....and Pat's work.
