Greetings, wandering internet traveler and welcome to Station K.A.T., the radio transmission stations that vows not to disappoint even if we analyze your mental capacity and destroy brain cells in the process. The regular host has been generous enough to allow me, XY-51, the ultimate privilege of hosting tonight's program "In-Depth Song Analysis Vol. 0.1" Of course, we have allowed Kat to continue her sarcastic commentary because eliminating her completely would seem overly overt.
Tonight's program centers around the contextual meaning of several songs by the much-loved band, Powerman 5000 (but then of course, you already knew that.) It is meant to be serious and not those revolting song misinterpretations that you find on menial websites that post even more menial videos. These analysis's on each song may not be the correct interpretation, that is for the reader to decide. We only hope to clarify some of the obscure meanings before some vile unintelligent human comes along and screws them up!! Sit back, cease your mockery of my bionic superiority and let the extensive song analysis commence!!
(Songs 1-5 are from Tonight! The Stars Revolt)
System 11:11:
There's a system to the system - I dont fit in the system.
Go yeah, go but dont expect me to miss you - Trying to find a hole in the bottom of the soulless, thinking about the world from the edge, You can't control this.
Now what the #### are you, some kind of half-assed astronaut?
Just a moment please I must insist that you stop (Repeated Twice)
It appears that this song is about the corrupt "system" to which we attempt to conform to and to cease the promotion of conformity. (Oh I thought some dimwitted astronaut pissed him off or something spacey like that!!) Obviously this sort of commentary is why we don't let her interpret the songs.
Watch the Sky For Me:
Watch the sky for me
Watch the night...
I'll be there for you...
In starlight
As your feet touch the ground,
I'll be floating along
Watch the sky for me...
Tonight
Just as every moment leads you to the past
Just as everything has gone
I'm the one you need
To know that there is someone else
Just as this is now
Goodbye...
Seems that this is about a doomed romance between a human and an extraterrestrial life-form, how unpleasant (Great...I can just see those obnoxious fan-girls fantasizing over this song!) Or, perhaps it is a reassurance to the survivors of a recent planet-annihilation incident that there is someone else out there besides their doomed race.
Supernova Goes Pop:
Are you the future? Or are you the past?
Have you been chosen, or are you the last?
The message was sent it seems so unreal...
Now I'm made of plastic, wire and steel
Follow for now and follow for this
Cause everybody follows for nothing at all!
Supernova your supernova ...
Supernova goes pop
Supernova you think it's over but supernova the don't stop
Can you explain just what you are?
Cause I've never been this close to a...star!
The message was sent, you know what to do,
Everybody needs to be someone, don't you (don't you?)
Follow for now and follow for this
Cause everybody follows for nothing at all!
Supernova your supernova...
Supernova goes pop
Supernova, you think it's over but the supernova don't stop.
One of those bizarre songs that might have dual meanings. One one hand it could be the human-race's instinct to follow the crowd, for certain reasons or simply for nothing at all. On the other hand it could be about an attractive and talented celebrity "Can you explain just what you are? Cause I've never been this close to a star!" Or it simply is about a supernova; the massive explosion that occurs when an over-sized star depletes it's fuel supply of hydrogen and helium (Yeah, yeah...I like this song because it can be perceived and used as a dirty innuendo!)
This concludes part one.
