Greetings, traversing internet traveler and welcome to Station K.A.T., the information station that vows to inform, entertain and possibly eradicate brain cells. We will continue broadcasting until we either gain access to the official Powerman 5000 or we are booted off this website.
Tonight's program is yet another exciting installment of the "In-Depth Song Analysis" series! As the program will most likely be too long, we might have to slash it down into two parts. Due to the fact that our newest robotic staff member is occupied with rallying his pissed off cyborg troops for their impending mechanical revolution "The Ultimate Malfunction" the regular host is back and raring to unleash her words of wisdom (and sarcastic commentary) upon your dreary and meaningless lives.
Included in our program is additional song interpretations by obsessively devoted Powerman 5000 fanatics such as yourselves. My interpretations may not be correct, but I hope to clarify some of the meanings before your frazzled brain becomes even more confused then it was several minutes ago. So sit back, turn up your PM5K music to full blast and let the prompt analysis begin!!!
(Songs 6-10 are from "Transform")
"Theme To A Fake Revolution"
I'm not a spaceman, but on the other hand
I never really did fit in this world.
Hands up to misfits, the one's that don't fit
I know that you know that you know who you are
(Oh yeah, oh yeah)
This is a theme to a fake revolution
A battle won and lost with confusion
This is a theme to a fake revolution
Make no mistake there is no solution
We are the kings of misery
Born and raised with no ability
Good luck sucker is the battle cry
Finally a purpose, a reason to die
(Oh yeah, oh yeah)
This is a theme to a fake revolution
A battle won and lost with confusion
This is a theme to a fake revolution
Make no mistake there is no solution
This is a theme to a
This is a theme to a
This is a theme to a
Fake revolution
(Oh yeah, all right!)
You wanna be part of somethin'
You wanna be part of somethin'
You wanna be part of somethin'
That you can't fight!
You wanna be part of somethin'
You wanna be part of somethin'
You wanna be part of somethin'
That you can't fight!
Finally a message, a meaning of thought
To help you remember all you forgot
To wash that illusion out from your head
And rebuild the nonsense that you once said
This is a theme to a fake revolution
A battle won and lost with confusion
This is a theme to a fake revolution
Make no mistake there is no solution
Fake revolution
Fake revolution
Fake revolution
Fake revolution
No extremely deep meaning here, although it means something important to me. Get out there, reveal your true identity, not your false disguise that your friends and family know and stand up and fight for what you believe in and value, I believe this is the message that this excellent song is trying to convey.
"Free"
Let's go!
Everybody needs to start their own fire
Everybody needs a riot of their own
Everybody needs to be something that they are not
Everybody needs to go it alone
Because!
Living so free is a tragedy
When you can't be what you want to be
Living so free is a tragedy
When you can't see what you need to see
Okay!
All the time spent hanging on to anything
All the time spent knowing that they're wrong
All the time wasted, stolen back, innocent
You won't get a second more so move it along
Because!
Living so free is a tragedy
When you can't be what you want to be
Living so free is a tragedy
When you can't see what you need to see
Living so free is a tragedy
When you can't be what you want to be
Living so free is a tragedy
When you can't see what you need to see
Wishing and hoping and thinking it's you
That's got this all under control
Never a minute has passed you all by
When they haven’t invaded your soul
It’s not something you can hold
It’s not something you own
It's not something you can buy or steal
You've got it when you're alone
Being free is a tragedy
When you don't know yourself
Being free is a tragedy
When you don't know who you are
Living so free is a tragedy
When you can't be what you want to be
Living so free is a tragedy
When you can't see what you need to see
Living so free is a tragedy
When you can't be what you want to be
Living so free is a tragedy
When you can't see what you need to see
Let's go!
Hey, hey, hey!
Alright then
This is the story of your life man!
Probably one of my all-time favorite songs by PM5K. Living with the freedom that you're entitled to is worthless if you can't be the individual that you truly are. It's even worse if you are blind to the fallacy and true nature of this world and the media and government that control it. There isn't a location on earth that hasn't been over-run with enforced conformity and propaganda, which is a genuine pity.
Additional Interpretations:
Person 1 wrote:
nothing to politically complex just the slings and arrows individuals must endure to find themselves and be truly free
We believe that we are entirely "free" but in reality we are imprisoned within the compounds of uniformity, if you don't count the few brave-of-heart that revolt against society and the crucial concept that is it's basis. Individuals may have to endure snide comments from their peers and the media but it's the conformists, the follow-the-crowd-no-matter-what people that are forced to deal with the burden of knowing that they aren't being true to themselves.
Person 2 wrote:
i think it means that in today's world, it's so hard to be yourself because today's society is to uniformed.
It's not-so-much difficult to be an individual, it's the vexation of putting up with the scornful remarks from your peers, that makes it so difficult (and the fact that the fashion and music industries have sank lower than dirt does not lend any of assistance to the matter either.)
