Hi Gwyn. Good to hear from you. I thought the first pier was constructed in the 60's after using the Yacht Club's Pier for a few years. Since I don't clearly remember the 60's, I might be confused. But I do remember the photo album. I am a charter member and served as the first social chair. The theme parties were my idea. I still talk about thoese parties and the great sailing. At a later time, I served as the training chair. After SIU, I became a instructor at UW-Madison (where my son is now an instructor and a true sailing bum). They had more boats and more members, but their best party was never as good as our worst party.
