The SIU sailing club was one of the highlights of my life. In those days, the membership was at least 80. We had 11 fjs, (nothing else) we had a great racing program ranked
12 in the country. For about 3 years, we had teams
at the Temme Angston Regatta. We brought boats on campus for recruiting. In the Spring, we did capsize training in the rec center pool. I am so happy the club has endured. My daughter started at Western Michigan University this fall. They have no clubs there - no sailing. I SO wish she'd go to SIU. Thanks for this great opportunity to get in
touch with SIU sailing people.
