Mr [J.D.]Smith, who taught French, had plenty to say on many subjects. Actually, I don't recall him teaching me any French, just telling endless funny stories. I learnt more French from him though than from the all the others combined - I suppose there is a message there for any teachers who may read this. However, he informed us that the 3 bags represented the money put into the school by the local authority, the parents and the teachers.... but 'we mitre had more'. It was funnier as he told it! Anyway, that seems to me a fair motto. Tim Robinson
