Well it's been quiet for a while so what was the favourite - iced buns or doughnuts? I preferred the iced buns as the doughnuts were so covered in sugar as to require a handwash afterwards, but only if they were fresh and soft. Tuck shop after lunch (when I could make it - usually cross country training don't you know!) was more civilised, bitter cherries my favourite. Getting a doughnut/iced bun/ fanta or coke was always dependant on your ability to get past the fifth formers, unless you knew, as I did a friendly prefect! Derek Warby, who went on to be an RAF officer was the said friendly prefect who was a role model to me in how to behave, sadly I didn't follow that role, I'm ashamed to say.
