Nige. Not sure, but he was a very accomplished organist, I think he was a Fellow of the Royal College of Music, which means you are a Virtuoso. I remember carol practice in Emmanuel Church, Northwood we'd ask him to blast us a bit of Bach. Probably the only thing I knew at the time the Toccata & Fugue in D minor. Mr Smith would play it from memory and give it welly. He was awesome. Sadly I heard he died of cancer a long time ago. He was an excellent music teacher, though could be snappy at times, he let us bring our own records in to school until Monkey Nuts brought in "God Save The Queen" in 1977 ..
