Posted by Jim Wilkins on 14/9/2007, 9:26 am I can only say that whilst (like anywhere in the UK) my county has it's "bad areas", Chandler's Ford certainly isn't one of them. Having said that, given the way lawlessness have been allowed to develop under this government (Jimbo gets political here!), unless certain people wake up and smell the coffee, this sort of thing will continue to happen and could happen anywhere in the UK. I'm just glad that the police were (seemingly) on the ball this time and that no innocent bystanders got hurt. As I write this, I am currently laid off sick with a chest infection - therefore safely(?) tucked up indoors. However, my wife is currently working up the road at a Doctors Surgery in Chandlers Ford just a mile or so from the crime scene. As I say, too close for comfort......

Doubtless you will all have read yesterdays news about the shooting of 2 armed men in Chandlers Ford. For me, it came as an even bigger shock as after relocating 9 years ago, I live only a couple of miles from where the incident took place and have often used the chippy along the same parade as the HSBC Bank mentioned. One of my work colleagues has just moved house the previous week and now lives almost within spitting distance of the scene.
