The poem was carved into a desk in, I think, room G.
And whereas you remember 'No good will come of such a life, said ferret with a cough' I remember it as 'No good will come of such a life, said WEASEL with a cough.'
Anyway, whether it was ferret or weasel the carving certainly predated the magazine inclusion by a good few years.
Tragically it is possibly the only complete poem I know off by heart.
