Posted by John Hawley I am glad that this item has come to light as it was the change to the old hall that most greatly and obviously shocked those touring on Saturday. This, after all, had been the focal point of the old school, and, I suspect, was the most eagerly anticipated area to view. I can recall many happy Friday afternoons with the after-school badminton club spent there. Never mind; the building is still there and transformed to good use. Readers may be interested to know that I have started a kind of email news group since Saturday - mainly of former staff (some ex-Haydon), but also with Gerald Miller and Richard Gibson, for obvious reasons.

I have just heard from John Quillfeldt that the St Nick's stained glass shield that used to be in the window high up on the north side (Haste Hill) of the hall is in the hands of Mrs Wignall. So now we have a part of the hall and a part of the JCR, we are slowly putting St Nick's together again. It just needs the pupils! Mr Quillfeldt suggests that if the Old Boys want the item then Gerald Miller need only ask. I suppose I could house it pro-tem, but wonder if it could be found a slot in the rugby clubhouse or Manor Farm library.
