Posted by David Dixon On the subject of a motto, I have recollections of a Staff Meeting at which we were asked to make recommendations for a motto which might be put into Latin and placed over the Dining Room entrance. Various portentous ideas were put forward but no consensus grew out of the discussion and there was a general air of bafflement until 'Bertie' Banton pricked the bubble of pretentiousness by recommending 'Way in'. I never heard anything else about a motto so I doubt whether the shield from the Assembly Hall was graced with one. It would be fun to write one though. Any ideas? Use any known language, avoiding Anglo-Saxon. David Dixon
