Apparently, Haydon came up as a suggestion due to Haydon Hall park (situated at the bottom of Joel St). I seem to remember there were a few names on the list, a vote was taken and Haydon proved to be the most popular choice. Seems to have stood the test of time......

One suggested namechange (jokingly) put forward was St Mary's Nicholas (or knickerless), which sounded a lot more interesting than Haydon!!!
