Which time? Which canceled version might have survived?
See, all the pushes in the world aren't going to help when a character has a fan base so splintered that there's no one component sufficiently large to sustain a book. And if the other components don't get exactly what they want, not only won't they support the character, but some will actively lobby for the failure of the one that's out there.
So maybe if the humorous She-Hulk will go away, then a serious one will be brought in and they'll support that.
Or if the serious one goes away so that a savage one shows up, they'll support that.
Or if a savage one is dumped in favor of the humorous one which was the other people wanted to see before they stopped buying it because it wasn't humorou, they'll support that. Presuming, of course, it's the RIGHT humorous one. Are we talking John Byrne humor or Dan Slott humor or Peter David humor...except why wasn't Peter David's version funny? Why did he play it so serious? Doesn't he know we all want to see She-Hulk breaking the fourth wall, except when we don't want to see that because that's already been done?
Spider-Girl fans kept that series alive as long as they did because they spoke with one voice and knew what they wanted. She-Hulk gets canceled over and over again because unfortunately, all too often, the only thing that She-Hulk fans can agree on is that they don't want to see what other She-Hulk fans like.
You beginning to see why Marvel might be interested in pushing a version that doesn't come with decade's worth of mutually contradictory sets of baggage?
