Had some difficulty making heads or tails of that post but I reckon I've finally figured it out. Seeing as Lyra idolises and respects Jen while she hated her mother and only recently came to understand her I'd say Jen is in a better position to give Lyra the sort of instruction a mother should give their daughter.
In addition to the above, the Thundra in the present gave birth to Lyra in her future and so Lyra can't interact with her mother as she is now without screwing up her own time line and probably wiping herself from existence. She was also I believe exiled from the future she was born in so she'll likely never see the Thundra who birthed her again.
