Instead, I do a mish-mash of La Festa dell'inverno (Winter festival) with some aspects of Saturnalia thrown in, as the tradition I follow originated in Italy. Since a major part of traditions in Italy involved gift-giving to ancestors, etc., I see no conflict in the gift-giving inherent in Christmas. On the other hand, since I am neither a Christian nor a Mithraite, I don't do anything "holy" on the 25th. I've actually come to see Christmas as more of a U.K./New World cultural thing, rather than a true "holy-day." So, in that regard, I have no problem giving gifts on the 24th or 25th for my Catholic/Christian friends and family. : I celebrate just "Yule" (Dec 21st Well, if they're that young, they're not going to be easily indoctrinated into either Christianity or Wicca. To them, Christmas is about presents, a tree, and Santa Claus. I'd say leave the tykes to enjoy the holiday season as they see it. At this point in our culture, it's really about the kids anyway. I don't agree with placing the personal politicking of religious warring into their lives. Let 'em be kids. There'll be plenty of time to act like the fools we adults so often do later on...

: "difficult" a task to try and
: teach them "Wiccan" aspects of
: religious dogma .. than let them "go
: without" (as far as gifts and all) ..
: like all the other kids in school .. ya know
: ?
:
: I know about "widening the circle"
: and all .. but they are only 3/6 years old
: .. and I think THAT is a little young to be
: trying to teach them (if they want to learn
