Here's an anorak question:
I was walking along Capel Street in Dublin for the first time in many years last week, thinking about the old Radio City on 260m. I had a 10pm-midnight slot twice a week there and for a while did the 8am news - that would have been towards the end of 1979.
Although I can't remember the station's exact address on Capel St., when I looked back down the length of the street towards the Liffey, there high up on top of one of the buildings on the left hand side was a tall pole and I'm sure the remains of the classic medium wave Inverted "V" transmission aerial.
Is it possible that the original aerial is still there after all this time? Does anyone else remember listening to or working at Radio City?
It was the successor to East Coast Radio (not to be confused with any present-day Co Wicklow stations of a similar nomenclature), where I had top spot in early '79 (4-5am Sunday mornings, in case you're wondering!).
Anyway, the anorak question of the moment is - is that an original pirate radio aerial still standing in Capel Street?
