Together we are strong!

We continue to suffer while housing minister Jim Watson is lounging in his office with his stupid smile on his face listening to all the landlord lobbyists lined up outside of his office to meet with him telling him what landlords demand next out of his party in return for huge campaign contributions!

: Vacancy rates in Toronto have dipped to 2.4%
: from 2.8%, and rents continue to go up.
: Figures were released by CMHC yesterday.
:
: With the economic crisis, and very slow
: Government action on building affordable
: housing, tenants will be facing tough times
: ahead.
:
: The continuation of vacancy de-control, will
: also allow landlords to raise rents and make
: tenants fearful of testing the market.
:
: The vacancy rate drop is despite the
: burgeoning condominium market in Toronto,
: and the continued trend of young people to
: not enter the rental market - but rather
: stay at home with parents, or wait till they
: have a downpayment.
:
: Landlord spinners get a tilted tip of the
: hat. Yes, the national average is up...but
: take a look at Windsor. Windsor has a 15.5%
: vacancy rate and thats a by-product of the
: economic mess the auto industry finds itself
: in. St. Catharines (A GM town) also saw a
: dramatic rise in vacancy.
:
: But have rents been dramatically slashed in
: Windsor? Nope. Last year, they went up
: slightly, this year they dropped by less
: than 3%. Another example of market failure.
:
: And Canada remains the largest country in
: the world without a national housing
: strategy.
:
: We have work to do!
