Although you may chose not to post this I am motivated to say that this attitude is exactly what leads to bad landlords.
I am disappointed to see that tenants and there activists do not respect landlords enough to even enter into a lease agreement with honesty.
I did not initially understand what all the fuss was on the landlord site about not trusting tenants and the need to tightly screen applicants but now I am beginning to understand.
Owning a pet is not a right it is a privilege restricted by the fact that tenants are not owners of there home and do not have the rights and privileges of a owner.
If a tenant wants to have a pet they should find a landlord willing to accept pets or the regulations should be changed to allow landlords to collect pet and damage deposits.
Sorry to say but I have always had a mutual respect relationship with my landlords or I moved. I never intentionally defied the wishes of any landlord I have ever had.
I can only conclude that advocacy groups must benefit from controversy other wise you would never give this type of advice to tenants.
