Hit By Tragedy, Now she faces eviction

I hope people saw the article in todays Toronto Star. A young woman is being threatened with eviction because of a shooting in her apartment of her partner. Now the Housing Co-op has started an eviction process. She will get a hearing.
I realize that there may be more to the story, but let us hope that the Co-op works this out quickly and does not put her through any more ordeal.
Co-op housing is managed by its' member occupants. They are not covered by the Residential Tenancies Act.
We have always supported the need for more co-op and non profit housing, but we don't want to see heartless actions in any form of housing. Yes, the neighbours have been unsettled by violence in their community - and that is understandable - but now is the time for humanity, and perhaps working together for better gun control. It is not the time to be throwing people out of the community - a person who committed no crime - but in fact is a victim.
