Together we are strong!

Hey there, just wondering if anyone can give me any anecdotal advice on my situation:
We apparently clogged the toilet in our washroom causing minor flooding in the condo below us. Our landlord called his plumber (he recently had a new bathroom installed) and although they said that anything could have caused the blockage in the pipes, a condom was removed (which, unfortunately, I can account for!)
I am aware it looks bad for my situation, but I was wondering does the condo management company have any responsibility towards this? They were quick to point the finger of blame at us when they came around, and were also quick to point out that this condo happens to have it's own piping system for a point, thus meaning the blockage had to have come from our unit and that they are not responsible for the piping and subsequent flooding below.
If anyone has any info or who can push me in the direction of more info then I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks
