It is time to rollback rents. Liberal finance minister Dwight Duncan says he is going to consult with business on how to make government "leaner". He said nothing about consulting with poverty activists. He had the audacity in his speech to boast that the Dalton McGuinty government has raised welfare benefits the past 5 years but neglected to say they broke their election promise to reverse the Harris government's 22% cut and 8 year freeze to benefits. If they had kept their promise it would have meant a 40% increase in welfare and then the additional tiny 5 annual increases the Liberal reluctantly gave. He says the economy is back to where it was in 2005. He neglects to say family incomes on average are back to 2003 levels in this province. Most businesses have dropped their prices because of the recession but never landlords. We need a rent rollback now!
