Just as i feared, as i stated in my post i have seen the LTB order allowing the above guideline increase. I was just wondering if there was a way out of it.
Mod. Note
The only way is negotiation. Unfortunately, unless a landlord fears that they will lose your business, and not be able to replace you...they have little incentive to negotiate.

: Typically at my building we get a notice in
: oct saying our rent will go up in jan but
: this yr we did n't get it. but 2 days ago I
: recieved a 90 day notice for rent to go up
: in Mar from my landlord saying that the rent
: is above the guideline this year due to
: increase in property taxes! I talked with my
: landlord's company and they said it was a
: straight forward case where the above
: guideline increase has been approved by the
: LTB because it did not involve capital or
: security services? and only involved an
: extraordinary increase in property tax by
: the municipality. I was invited to see the
: order from the LTB and both the 2008 and
: 2009 tax bill for the building to verify but
: is this info indeed corrct? i also asked why
: some peoples rent went up by the normal 2.1
: while some went up to 4 and they said that
: those people were already paying market rent
: and they only decided to charge more to the
: people who were below market rent. what can
: i do to get out of this?
