I actually love this method! It prevents the he said she said, no i didn't yes i did that often arises.
I would love if this method was mandatory in all mediated agreements and to stave off eviction rather then having a new hearing. No payment to the board, eviction order.
Hell if i had confidence in the LTB system (which i don't) i would even say send all monthly checks to the ltb if tenant x doesn't submit one by x date automatically set a hearing.

: Hey everyone,
:
: Nice forum, it's well needed. I'll get down
: to it. My landlord has turned into a
: complete nightmare. I have been renting a
: condo for over 4 years without one late
: payment. November I quit my job knowing I
: start a new job in January. Income I was
: expecting for the two months I am out of a
: job, fell threw and now I am short on the
: rent.
:
: I called my landlord a week before Novembers
: rent was due mentioning I might be short
: rent for November/December because of my
: situation but would be happy to pay
: everything January 1st because I will have
: all the money then. (really I would just
: take a cash advance out from my credit card
: pay him January 1st, get my first pay check
: mid January and pay it off)
:
: He started flipping out when I told him
: this. Threatening me to get out of the condo
: now and if I was in the condo by January I
: would be signing a new lease with a rent
: increase and giving him post dated checks
: for 12 months. I told him that is not going
: to happen. Can we work out a payment plan?
:
: He just hung up on me. I then got an n4
: notice, I responded with a letter asking him
: to be reasonable and now he has made a
: hearing with the land lord tenant board to
: try and evict me and has ignored all
: communication from me. I have written him
: two letters and called twice but he just
: ignores it.
:
: The kicke is I can't make the hearing date
: because I won't even be in the province on
: that date, I have applied to reschedule it
: but the landlord tenant board said if the LL
: dosen't agree it won't be rescheduled. The
: landlord tenant board also assured me he
: would not be able to evict me by jan1st
: anyways because the sheriff would not come
: out before then anyways.
:
: So I am asking everyone, what do you think I
: should do? I would love to attend the
: hearing but It would cost me 500 bucks to
: cancel my plans.
:
: If I don't go what should I expect? Or
: should I just go to the hearing no matter
: what?
:
: Seems to me my landlord is wasting time as I
: said I would pay him in full plus January's
: rent on jan 1st, so even if we had a hearing
: or not that's going to be the solution to
: this problem?
:
: Should I be doing something else here, I
: feel like I have done all I can here and he
: is just being unreasonable.
