My landlord gave me 60 days notice in the form of a termination of lease letter telling me I need to move out Dec.31st. My lease runs jan 1st-Dec 31st. I have been renting here for 9 years and have always paid my rent on time and I've been a good tenant. I am unable to coordinate movers, storage, and someone to watch my 2 daughters until jan.6. I have to put my things into storage as I was unable to find a place for jan.1st. I let my landlord know that and she told me pay $50 a day for the extra days. Can she do that? I am really annoyed by this as I've been frustrated over the years with the lack of repairs. Leaky roof, rodents living in the walls/ceilings, mould, gas stove that leaks gas. I should have been more proactive over the years.. And now, they're going to renovate the place and likely re-rent it. I've been told the landlord is moving back in, but part of me doesn't believe this. Any advice on if I can legally challenge this charge? (as I really can't afford it)
