This is from lead pipe, and while I cannot say for sure lead pipe is pure lead, I have used it for RB and conicals and it is very soft and casts well. When I melted down the pipe I let each melt sit for 10 to 15 minutes and skimmed it, although as best I remember there wasn't a lot of dirt and crud.
