One way to get #4 buck would be to buy shotgun ammo and dis-assemble it for the pellets. By careful shopping you'd be into the range of 2 to 4 cents per ball, plus shipping or gas money. Be aware that some ammo has copper or even nickle coated shot.
Hornady offers 5 pounds of #4 buck (I think it's boxed, not bagged). Midway carries it for $23.95 which is 1.4 cents apiece, at 21 grains per ball, but at least you don't have to slice your fingers up cutting the shells apart.
Midway also sells a single cavity .240 mold by Saeco, at $72.99. I cannot fathom what the breakeven point would be to save money that way, considering the costs of lead, mold, and fuel for the heat source.
