The first is a white 12 year old registered appy gelding, no spots. He was
gelded at 4 years, and was bred to 1 mare. He has never been lame, and has
no problems now except for needing a trim. He's current on shots, but
needs to be wormed. He's got a nice personality, and his temperment is at
a 4. He's very good natured and loves to be messed with. He's easy to
catch out in the pasture. He's pastured right now with 5 other horses, and
he's herd boss. He's not mean nor a bully, but he makes sure the others
know he's boss. He bit me once as a two year old and has never bitten me
since. I've only ridden him english, but he could learn western neck
reigning fast. He picks up on things fairly fast, once he figures out what
you want. His walk and trot are really smooth, and his canter is like
riding a rocking horse. I've only ever done trot poles with him, no
jumps. He did bolt with me once, he spooked at a chicken. He is easy to
lead, loads fairly well in the daytime into a 3 horse slant. Stands calmly
to be tacked up, stands for the farrier and vet, doesn't fuss too much
about being wormed. I'd want an intermediate rider for him, since I
haven't been able to ride for over a year and he'll need to be ridden and
worked to get him back into shape. I bought him directly from the breeder
as a weanling. I'm asking $500 for him since he won't need much work to
get him back to been ridden regularly.
never bred a mare. He stepped on a nail as a yearling, and the vet and
farrier have both pronounced him sound, and he has had no reoccuring
problems. He was also chased by the neighbor's dogs as a weanling and now
tends to be very suspicious of strange dogs. Once he gets used to them,
he's ok. He's also ok with little dogs. He's never tried to kick me, he
did intentionally bite me once and hasn't since. He's second rank in the
pasture, and he can be aggressive with the other horses. As long as they
give way when he approaches he doesn't go after them, but if they don't
move fast enough he'll bite or chase them away. Luckily my other gelding
is dominate, otherwise he'd be more of a problem. (The others make it too
easy for him to be boss) He was green broke at 4 years, and has never been
ridden since. He's easy to catch, leads well, stands quietly for the vet
and farrier. He's actually better than Tyr, the white gelding, at standing
for the farrier. I can tack him up and lunge him. Since he needs more
training then Tyr, I only want $300 for him. He's Tyr's half brother, and
out of my old TB mare.
