: Here is information about a mare that needs a
: home or her owner is going to have her
: euthanized because she can‘t afford to keep
: her. She is 7 years old. We sold her as a
: weanling. At that time she had done some
: winning at halter. I owned her dam, sire,
: and all four grandparents. Her dam is a
: halter champion and a reserve champion in
: hunter pleasure. She has also been shown
: successfully over fences. Her sire was only
: shown a few times, but did place every time.
: Her grandsire was the 1993 Canadian
: National Reserve Champion Arabian Working
: Hunter. Both granddams were unshown. I am
: enclosing a pedigree. We registered her as
: Darq Kayleena. I don’t know if she has
: officially changed her name since she has a
: different name on the flyer. Pictures of
: some of her ancestors can be seen at
: www.allbreedpedigree.com.
: There are also pictures on the Crabbet
: Arabians group on yahoo.com site. I have
: pictures of her sire, dam, and grandparents
: that I can email to anyone who wants to see
: them.
:
: Her owner said she has had some lameness
: issues with her front feet and a cut on her
: hind leg which will probably scar. I called
: the veterinarian who treated her. He has
: not seen the mare since she was 3. At that
: time, she was sore on both front hooves. He
: said she had thin soles and was trimmed very
: incorrectly. He took x-rays which were
: normal. He recommended putting shoes on her
: and trimming her correctly. It’s not
: something where the horse is in pain all the
: time. Since I have not seen her, I can’t
: guarantee how sound she may be, but it
: didn’t sound like anything too bad. The
: injury to the hind leg is a cut. The vet
: said the owner called about it and made an
: appointment to look at it, but then canceled
: the appointment.
:
: The mare was ridden a little at 3 and 4, but
: hasn't been ridden since. They have led
: children on her. Her owner says she's great
: about clipping, leading, loading, being
: trailered, bathing, and will stand tied for
: hours.
:
: I’m sure she would be suitable for a
: broodmare or a lead line horse. Beyond
: that, I don’t know. With the proper hoof
: care, she could possibly do more, but with
: out seeing her or having a vet check her
: thoroughly, I can’t say more than that. I
: suspect that may be all she needs. She has
: excellent Crabbet bloodlines. All the
: horses in her family have excellent,
: friendly, people loving dispositions.
:
: The mare is currently located in Yakima, WA,
: but we are planning a trip up there the end
: of March and could pick her up then. The
: owner agreed to keep her until then. We
: would bring her to our Aumsville facility
: and she could be picked up here. I can’t
: keep her and my husband would be more
: enthused about hauling her to Oregon if I
: had a home lined up for her. If anyone is
: interested in her, please contact me at
: 503-749-2780 or 503-931-1568. Please help
: spread the word. This mare deserves a good
: home.
