Posted by James Hunter on July 16, 2007, 6:52 am, in reply to "Re: Thoughts on "Nova" #4 [SPOILERS]" there's also the basic sense of wonder I still get (as a reader) from both Kyle and Rich, theyy have both saved the world (many times) but the sheer vastness and magnificance of space can impress them. Those are just a feww of the more basic elements of similarity I see between Rich and Kyle, but it gives you an idea Cheers. James. --Previous Message--

What kyle rayner-esque elements am I seeing? Well, there's the basic stuff of a hero who has so much power but yet is an ordinary boy (this time from Queens rather then NY but still) being given the awesome responsibility of carrying on a whole legacy.
.
: I'm curious, what Kyle Raynor-esque elements
: are you seeing? I've never read any of his
: comics so I wouldn't recognize them.
:
: The power transfer to Ko-Rel took me
: completely off-guard! Very NOVAv1 #1, all
: the way down to the comparison with
: exploding cobalt bombs (if I remember
: right). I'm glad to see DnA actually
: *using* the various possibilities of the
: Nova-Force in ways that have been
: established but never seen while Rich has
: used it... but I'm glad it's only temporary.
: If the upcoming covers are accurate
: portrayals of the issues' events, then #6
: will see Ko-Rel vs. the Phalanx Gamora, and
: #7 may see Rich back, but added to the
: Phalanx as one of their Select like Gamora
: and Ronin. And Ko-Rel will have to save
: him? Intriguing.
:
: I, too, hope Ko-Rel is the first of a new
: Nova-Corps. Editor Bill Roseman has said
: that Nova is more interesting when he's the
: only Nova left, because having a bunch of
: others lowers the stakes because he has
: back-up -- but I think one soldier among
: many is much more at-risk than someone who's
: alone but is one of the most powerful humans
: in the universe.
:
: I gotta say though, the Phalanx as a threat
: for four four-issue storylines and then
: another six issue miniseries is honestly not
: remotely as interesting to me as Annihilus
: was. I really wish they'd gone with the
: obvious villain for a Marvel series called
: "Conquest," and had Kang the
: Conquerer invade the Annihilation-weakened
: universe. I was really hoping I'd see Nova
: versus the teenage Kang that was set up in
: Young Avengers. To me, that would've been
: awesome.
