I also don't understand why Bendis is so popular. I mean sure books like X-Men and the Avengers will always sell. With a movie coming out GOTG is a pretty safe propery sales wise, but I have yet to find a book of his that I like (just ones that I'm kind of forced to read because I love the characters).
What was his big stuff? Ultimate Spiderman and Alias? I didn't read either, which is maybe why I don't get the love.
In any event GOTG is always the book I read last in my stack because I just know nothing worthwile is going to happen there. They'll interact in the latest tie-in and Starlord will have a meaningless conversation with his father. That's been every issue for the last year and a half. More has happened in the new New Warriors in half the time. Just kill J'Son already and be done with it. He's making Quill a worse character.
I'm hoping after the movie hits Bendis will leave the book and finally someone will be allowed to do something with that team again. Just look at these tie-in mini series. Skottie Young's Rocket book was alot of fun.
I agree that the parallel between Jamie Reyes and Sam Alexander is probably the strongest. I think history is repeating itself a bit as well. While Jamie started off as offensive to someone who liked Ted previously the guy did grow on me and I think that had alot to do with the creative teams that worked on the book. I think Duggen can do that for Sam if he stays around. If these replacement characters need to happen you've better put your best writers on the book because man talk about climbing a mountain to win over the established fans.
In any event keep up the blog. It is nice to read rational thoughts on our side of the subject rather than hear people spit hot fire all over forums everytime Rich is mentioned.
