raising this question means a lot and really shows some support for ole' Rich. It also shows some great leadership, which is really awesome.
But at the end of the day my personal vote has to go to no. I know this is surprising for some as I am fully on board with the "don't buy Sam books" and "reject Sam" side of the fence.
I'm at a point where I'm really confident in my stance in this whole mess. Man, it's a sucky situation. I think I was open minded about Sam Alexander from the moment I first saw the Quesada promo art. Over the next couple years, I reviewed the product and made sure I had an informed opinion. I did not pre judge. I made my decisions regarding the current Nova series from what I saw and observed, not about what it was not.
I do feel we Rider fans are "in the right", and I know if we keep on this path we WILL see Rich back..as frustrating as these current times are- I know that. The point is though, we still have to keep walking the long path. We can't quit! This means getting the word out, being classy but firm..and not folding into non action. As I've said...its OK to take a stand! But you got to remain yourself through the process. That IS the challenge.(I know that sounds cheesy) We are fighting a corporation here and corporate greed...a corporation we love and hate at the same time..but its David Vs Goliath, and this means we need everything we have.
Part of me does want to just BAN Sam Alexander, part of me wants to see him killed off and forgotten.(and really it's a big part of me and I'm a big guy) I don't know , I've never had this feeling about a character before. I know I talk a lot about disliking him and wanting him to go away...and I do..but I guess I really don't like the idea of banning stuff or shunning these fans. I hate that kinda stuff when it is thrown in my face...so I just can't support it.
But the bottom line is; I don't think it's necessary. I think we are all above banning shit and content out there. (within reason and COC type stuff of course) It's not some convoluted equation, and it's not saying we need to support Sam and love it..but I don't think banning the stuff is needed. I think we just need to focus on supporting Rich Rider and demanding marvel bring him back and make him the primary Nova character. We demand Rich Rider comes back and gets a starring role in an ongoing series that is supported properly...
I have always valued myself a man of compromise. And thats different from being a comprised man. Even though I am not keen on "accepting" Sam (w/ Rider) because some of the bad blood out there, ultimately I am willing to compromise if it means we get Rider back. I'd accept Sam as a supporting Nova Corps character, but I'd really need to see some changes. Some notion of how he's portrayed as a child soldier and some work done to put a couple years on him and improve his maturity. He needs to be a growing character as opposed to a buffoon by shtick.
I'm so confident in the source material of old regarding Rider that I almost enjoy leading some of these Sam fans to water when it comes to Annihilation. Time has breezed past in my life so 2007 seems like yesterday..but damn its not. Its nearly 8 years ago now! Some of these Sam Alexander fans are just good new readers who can be showed the REAL goods in the Giffen / DnA material.
I mean , if a 14 year old kid wants to post his love of Sam on this board or post his cool drawing of Spam Alexander on the preeminent Nova Fan Page (Which IS what the Nova Boards and Nova Prime Page is) Honestly, that's cool with me.
I disagrees that we need to ban that kind of situation and would lower ourselves to that. Ultimately, we are confident in our stance and we are confident in the quality of "Rider material". Maybe we can lead this kid to those promised lands..maybe we get another die hard supporter because we acted with class and dignity. That's what I'm about, and I think you guys should consider this.
As always love the Nova talk and long live Rich Rider!

: Now I know I'm been a bit risky here with
: Nova64 posting this one considering that NMB
: and NPP are dedicated to supporting all
: factions of the Nova fan base that we
: currently have - however always one to be
: fair when it comes to topical discussions
: and echoing other Nova boards on Facebook
: -i'm going to toss open the question and see
: what feedback we get from those that visit
: here.
:
: So there's the question. If Marvel really do
: the dirty deed and kill off Rich Rider once
: and for all with no hope of him ever coming
: back to the ranks of the 616 in some clever
: way - do you think NMB and NPP should
: consider the option of ceasing publicity of
: all current Nova and related Marvel Cosmic
: titles and appearances in protest until we
: ensure Rich's return to the MU?
:
: GOTG 20 comes out on October 29th - so this
: poll will stay up until the end of November
: - one month after the issue has been out -so
: it'll be your views and votes that'll be
: taken in consideration. Right now - Rich is
: enjoying the spotlight with a good response
: to his release as a playable character in
: Marvel Heroes - and added to that you're
: aware his Marvel Legends figure has been one
: of the best sellers since release. So its up
: to you to air your views! Nova3333
