I am glad Rich did not entirely go out like a punk, or inhumanely be put down like a stray dog.
I agree that the rest of the whole entire issue was a big mess and there is still a slew of unanswered questions. Definitely a lot of misrepresentation, mischaracterization, and opened even more questions.
We were told that in Sam's book we will be seeing more of the other surviving Nova Corps members. On GOTG, Legendary Star-Lord and any other book, I do hope we get an explanation on how Peter Quill ended up years younger, the deal with Thanos' new uniform, the actual deal between Quill and Thanos, the backstory to when the team was reassembled by the time we see them in Avengers Assemble!, and more.
Lord E-Vell, The Revengers, the Many Angled Ones, Death, etc all were not as there were when we saw them back in The Thanos Imperative.
This story felt more about wrapping up the "heavy burden" of Richard Rider's fate in order to legitimize Sam Alexander and the Black Novas in their place in the 616. But perhaps there is more to the whole picture and an actual connection with Rich exists, especially with the Cosmic Cube being involved.
Also, there is still the lingering question about what was meant by Dark Phoenix telling Sam that he does not even belong to our reality in the first place. It could be covered in the new upcoming Infinity Gauntlet.

: CBR have posted a look at GOTG 20 -the final
: part of the what happened to Rich arc. Isn't
: looking good. Can see why they delayed the
: preview in favor of doing the Symbiote
: preview first. Yeah eagle eyed fans have
: already noted the contradictions. One fan
: noted Rich almost died when he got burned to
: a crisp in the first part of the Phalanx arc
: but that nifty Xandarian armor ensured his
: restoration. As for losing an arm - well if
: the Kree were around they grew him a new
: right leg after the previous limb got blown
: off (off panel) in Annihilation 1! Losing a
: limb is traumatic but not life threatening
: but you know what's going to happen here.
: That's right Bendis will suddenly change the
: rules with the Cube thanks to Revenger Cap
: and whereas before everyone was coming back
: alive in the Cancerverse before in last
: issue, now it'll be fatal to get hurt - so
: what will be the outcome - I still think
: Peter will get Thanos to absorb Rich's
: lifeforce and powers into his own et-al
: Cyclops and Apocalypse and that'll be part
: of the deal of getting him, Drax and Thanos
: out of the Cancerverse thus leaving Rich in
: a limbo state still to allow Marvel to
: continue the new legacy of Sam - not many
: like him - Alexander. I think many
: frustrated Nova fans will be voicing their
: opinions next week. Only plus side is Ed's
: art though I wish he hadn't
: "Karmanized" Rich's Helmet!
