G3K has been quite a good read so far and the art style used really was not much of a negative factor for me. Its too bad it did not attract more of the younger demographic it seemed to be targeting. I assume the younger readers want more of the MCU-type GOTG fare with the "dance-off humor" and not much of the quality Cosmic Marvel stories we had just 5 years ago. "Galaxy Quest" over "Firefly".
But I love that it does not have any the cringe-worthy dialogue and out-of-character knee-jerking in the other books that pass as "Cosmic Marvel". Its an awesome series that has much more potential to succeed and perhaps part of that would be to have an artist that can better compliment the quality writing and Alex Ross' photo-real covers. Sandoval's art was a good introduction and beginning, now it needs a more solid artist but not necessarily a big name talent.
I'd be interested in the Secret Wars Korvac special.
I have been a fan of Dustin Weaver's art since first seeing some of his Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic art with DHC. Yeah, I was even part of his Yahoo group! But, I am not liking how this New Xandar and the Marvel politically correct Nova Family social experiment sounds for IG. Too bad Rich does not seem to be involved in any way.
: I'm a bit surprised the sales numbers are so
: low on the new Guardians 3000 book. I've
: seen nothing but negative posts over the
: last few years about the lack of a
: well-written and mature cosmic book being
: available through Marvel and here we have
: one. Heck, I even added a sub to grab it
: since I enjoyed it a lot. The art even grew
: on me after the first 2 issues, and I've got
: no complaints with the book at all.
: I know digital sales factor into things, but
: with the sales estimate of 18,155 for the
: paper copies sold, that's a depressingly low
: number. That low number makes me think that
: G3K probably won't be published again as a
: regular book after Secret Wars 2K15 is
: finished. I'm even really enjoying Rael
: Rider as a part of the extended cast added
: to the book.
: So my question to other cosmic fans here is:
: Why aren't you picking up the book and
: supporting it? You've been asking for
: something like for years. What's preventing
: you from supporting G3K?
