Yes, we have most certainly agree on a lot, see eye to eye on things, are on the same page when it comes to Richard Rider.
I've asked Joe Quesada about Rich on two occasions at his Tumblr blog but he has yet to respond, if at all. Two weeks ago and the other night. We'll see of he responds. All being respectful of course, that I admire his current art style, and I even told him I am still a big fan of Azrael(Jean Paul Valley.

: Richard Rider was and still is THE mythos.
: He
: was from the beginning. He was Nova for me
: and many others, even though I only really
: became a die-hard loyal Rich fan when the
: Nova: The Human Rocket series was released.
: Yes, its the last time Rich was yet again
: done in the Spider-Man model like in the Vol
: 1 70s series. It was hard for me to identify
: with Mullet-haired Rich in the the Vol 2 90s
: series. I wasn't too crazy about New
: Warriors much. But this time I stuck around
: for good because I really did like the
: personal story as well as Joe Bennett's art.
: I bought and finally read the What If? #15
: "Four Other People Had Been Nova?"
: issue two months ago. It was pretty
: interesting to see what would have
: been...but you already knew these stories
: were only alternate timeline possiblities
: and nothing more. Rich was the Nova. These
: other characters were just temporary
: character studies. Well, now that multiple
: Earths is a popular thing these days
: again...why didn't Marvel include the
: different Earth Novas from alternate Earths
: for Secret Wars? Will we see a glimpse of
: MC2 Rich? I always felt that Sam belonged in
: the Ultimate Marvel Universe and now, Sam is
: revealed to be the Terran Nova from the
: Ultimate Universe. Rich was totally dissed
: but I can accept Sam as that universe's Nova
: if it meant no Sam in the 616. For Secret
: Wars, we get a Thor Corps(not bad since I am
: a Beta Ray Bill fan) and a Carol Corps(a DCU
: Blackhawks motif?). But no alternate
: timeline collection of Nova Corps at all
: other than the Bakian Family as the New
: Xandar Nova Corps? Infinity Gauntlet seems
: more a re-make of Annihilation the way
: Marvel wants it to be. I admired Dustin
: Weaver's work since he started some Star
: Wars work for Dark Horse. I know he
: co-plotted IG but I'd have rather Marvel
: allow him to do a Richard Rider and the Nova
: Corps book instead.
:
: I agree: its been 5 years too long. We loyal
: Rich fans are irrational and tired of the
: bullocks and pile of rubbish going on at
: Marvel with its "Legacy Travesty Cosmic
: Marvel characters", games, and whatnot.
: Instead of sitting around waiting for Marvel
: to come back to its senses or have new
: people come in who truly respect the Richard
: Rider character, we are calling Marvel out
: and letting them know . As we should be
: doing. Not as "entitled customers"
: like Tom Brevoort assumes, but as truly
: concerned customers.
:
: I realize at the end of the day that Richard
: Rider is Marvel's property to do as they
: please. He may not be Peter Parker, Hal
: Jordan, or Mickey Mouse but for us, he is
: all that and more. Rich may well just only
: be a fictional character and for us to take
: such a character so seriously is laughable
: to many, especially those who do not
: understand comic books in modern times. I
: never thought I'd be one day taking a
: favorite comic book character of mine to
: defend and debate over. And then, Rich
: disappeared and "Sam Alexander"
: appeared. DnA's great Star-Lord only to be
: replaced by Bendis' version is another
: tragedy. Travesty. That is one word that
: describes Cosmic Marvel today, most
: especially GOTG and "Nova". Doing
: fan art is my small way of showing Marvel
: and the world that Richard Rider does matter
: and he is a great character.
: I do not find it "idiotic",
: "ridiculous", "childish"
: or whatever when it comes to readers who are
: sincerely boycotting certain comics and
: instead are demanding the real deal return.
: If readers truly like what Marvel is putting
: out now what passes today as "Cosmic
: Marvel", that is and always has been
: their choice. Long-time Cosmic Marvel
: readers do not highly recommend the stuff
: and giving their highly-educated opinions.
: I'm no Cosmic Marvel authority, but even I
: can tell the difference. Even I can see how
: wrong Marvel was to fire Abbnett and Lanning
: from Nova and GOTG, to do away with Rich,
: and to not only dissolve what was once
: Cosmic Marvel and have it become part of
: what is now a "Shared Marvel
: Universe", but also fundamentally
: transform GOTG and Cosmic into a shell of
: what they used to be. As great as the
: Guardians 3000 short-lived series was, it
: was painful reading how Abnett had to write
: the MCU-inspired GOTG team knowing this was
: not the same team from The Thanos
: Imperative.
:
: I am also not caving in, to simply just
: "accept things as they are". I do
: not accept what Marvel has done and is still
: doing to Richard Rider. To easily fall for
: and accept what passes as "Nova
: Concepts" simply means that Rich was
: not that important enough to stand up for to
: begin with. I don't care how long you have
: been a Nova fan. You do not give up on a
: character you strongly believe in like
: Richard Rider just because some editor or
: writer says he is no longer a significant
: part of the way Marvel does business today.
: Again, its not about us feeling
: "entitled" but really about Rich
: deserving so much more respect as a great
: character.
: In the military( I was Navy but took high
: school Army JROTC), you "Ruck Up!"
: "Roger Up!" and "Soldier
: On!". Also, we do not turn our back and
: leave the fallen behind. They trusted us to
: bring them back thier families, one way or
: another.
:
:
: Well, we all need to "Nova Corps
: Up!" and let Marvel know that we are
: not turning our back and giving up on
: Richard Rider so easily. His fanbase needs
: all of us to rally together around him if we
: are really serious about wanting him to
: return. Same goes for wanting to see Rich
: done right in the MCU. Are we guaranteed any
: success? No, of course not. Does it show
: Marvel how serious Richard Rider fans are
: when they are united?
:
:
: --Previous Message--
: Not so sure I agree with you there, D , half
: the time Wolfman was mandated to foray into
: that junk as were DnA and Fab Nic..fans
: stepped up and it was pretty clear replacing
: Rich was not a wise move. Frankly, Ko -Rel ,
: Xan Philo and the DnA stuff was the only
: stuff worth a lick, and Marvel's pissed all
: over that material.
:
: (BTW this post is not all focused on you but
: to most of this thread and some of the
: vibe/comments)
:
: I also am not about the re invent the past
: and say the prior 36 years of Nova history
: was much more than Richard Rider...a hero we
: called Nova. There were certain lulls, like
: most of the 80s, but he was Nova and he was
: the mythos. Despite a few minor forays into
: larger storylines, Rich was the guy .
: Throughout Rich's history they tried a few
: times to warm us to the idea of a new Nova,
: and we usually repulsed and let marvel know
: we loved Rich.
:
: I'm going to be honest, I'm not a huge
: diehard fan of the "Nova Corps" or
: the concept of a "Nova" as they've
: been executed in comics (aside from the
: brief DnA stuff circa War of Kings).
: Frankly, the Nova Corps is a half hacked
: concept marvel has botched more often than
: nailed. Nova is not really that original as
: a concept either. But the stories made it
: all real. Wolfman made it real, which
: continued with FabNic and Giffen and DnA.
: The growth made Rich real. So unfortunately,
: I'm a Rich Rider fan. He's my Nova . That's
: who I really bleed for.
:
: Rich is my favorite character. As we all
: know, he's on the ropes still after nearly
: five years now. In the whole matter, I ask
: myself what can I do. "What can I do to
: help bring Rich back" should, at least
: in my humble opinion, be a sentiment of a
: true Richard Rider fan. Yet, I don't speak
: for everybody or all Rider fans. But just
: blindly assuming he will be brought back
: when marvel "so fancies" is not an
: accurate statement. I was a history major ,
: and history just tells us that is plum not
: always true.
:
: Sales matter.
:
: Microeconomics, despite me once flunking the
: course in college, is a relatively simple
: matter. If consumer buys product (A) he
: tells the Company who makes product (A) to
: make more. Supply and demand. The simplicity
: is, if there is no demand for a Non-Richard
: Rider Nova Book (meaning folks don't buy it)
: , Marvel will not produce a Non-Richard
: Rider book. (Despite what guys like Tom
: Brevoort say) Very simply..and the notion is
: far from "ridiculous". Motivated
: consumer bases often rally together to send
: corporations messages about what goods they
: do want or don't want. It's not some evil or
: subversive tactic. Its exercising your god
: given right as a free market consumer. When
: done right, when a base is motivated , the
: tactic can work.
:
: I like comics. I'm a certified marvel head.
: I miss following new marvel comics. Some of
: the stuff even looks pretty decent out
: there, but I refuse to allow Marvel to take
: away my favorite character. Weaver is a
: tremendous talent. It stinks to let good
: folks get caught up in this, and many have.
: But the fact remains, I refuse to let Rich
: get left behind. I ask myself "what can
: I do to effect change," and not buying
: marvel and being vocal in many ways is what
: I've come too...its my answer after being so
: frustrated with the other paths. Maybe it's
: time for some other stuff. I'm not
: sure...but I'm not about to cave neigh five
: years in to this.
:
: And five years at this point, and I become
: wholeheartedly irrational. I think we Rider
: fans deserve to be a bit irrational after
: all , don't we?
:
: To wrap this up, we all have a lot of
: tactics and opinions. None of them are
: ridiculous.
:
: I think continuing to support Marvel and
: Marvel's half baked Nova concepts is a wrong
: move...but I don't' see it as ridiculous or
: idiotic. I just disagree with the tactic. I
: actually hope at least somebody reads the
: crud who can tell us what a shit sandwich it
: is. (Sorry Weaver you probably deserve
: better)
:
: Richard Rider is still on the ropes, still
: cast off like a bad cough. It's been nearly
: half a decade since he was snuffed out. I
: miss him. Rider, a man called Nova, needs
: people fighting for him in the dirt, not
: folks who are apathetic or feel they are
: above the fray, but worse he doesn't really
: need us all fighting with each other. I love
: our community and sites like NPP and NMB.
: These have been great killer sites that have
: galvanized Rich Rider and his fans. I don't
: mean to lecture the folks who have done so
: much for Rich , that's not my goal here. But
: Rich's past and (hopefully) his future
: revolve around us being together.

: Well as a 47 going 48 year soon I really
: don't
: have any time or patience for idiots at the
: best of time; end of day, every one to their
: own. Its just really silly the way CBN Nova
: fans have handled the matter, acting like
: school kids with silly acronyms, repetitive
: negative reviews and calling everyone anti
: Rich for supporting anyone else wearing the
: bucket-hat; christ Marv Wolfman created
: alternate Novas back in What if! Anyway this
: is the last time this subject gets mentioned
: by me - this is NMB; here you're welcome to
: talk about any Nova you like - Rich, Sam,
: Awen, Nova.0.0 Robert Rider, even my own
: Nova619 Rich! So from June, consider a new
: start as we head into Secret Wars!
:

: I wouldn't sweat it. Those sorts of people
: are never going to be happy. If Awen ends
: up being a cool character I'll pick her up.
: I collected Sam's book for quite a while. I
: gave it my best shot. I stopped because I
: wasn't digging it not because of some sort
: of boycott. If you like something read it
: and if you don't like it then don't read it.
: Buying or not buying comic books for
: political reasons is silly. Life is too
: short for that.
:
: Personally I'd prefer Rich back, but if
: that's not going to happen I'd just like
: some good Nova stories. Sam's stuff is so
: divorced from the legacy that if barely
: feels like I'm reading Nova. That coupled
: with it clearly being a book targeted at
: preteens made me lose interest. If Anwen or
: Rael can do a better job as a protagonist
: than I'll support them.
:
: At least they recognize the Nova concept is
: worth keeping around. When was the last time
: Quasar or the Quantum Bands appeared?
: Honest question, because last time I
: remember seeing that stuff was the DnA era.

: I am able to get in now. Probably something
: with my updates. Once I got in, I read a
: number of comments. What I found is I am one
: of the Richard fans who, by choosing to read
: the new title, makes me not a true fan. Or,
: I am helping to keep dirt on Richard. I have
: not been named. But I do know that I posted

: I'm sorry to hear that you've been locked
: out

: attitude problem. In the end any Nova fan,
: whoever which version they follow- are
: always welcome here.

: I will be picking up the Nova/Secret Wars

: that will happen in the future. However, I
: do not think boycotting titles will have
: that happen.

: Hey Guys - I had checked the link to the
: "site" and it does work. As far as
: NMB goes, both me and Nova64 have said it
: before several times; if anyone wants to
: comment on current "Nova/s" as
: well as talk about Nova Prime, without
: having to worry about being singled out
: which is sadly something CBN choose to do
: with Nova fans at that forum, just feel free
: to post anytime. I seriously do not like the
: attitude that they've taken - what fans
: choose to buy and support is their own
: business!
