Infinity Gems seem to power up the Nu Xandar version of the Nova Corps, but there may still be a Worldmind supercomputer around and we've yet to see other surviving Corps members and what Nu Xandar was like before Secret Wars Bug Annihilation. I read that Siege has an "Annihilation Wave".
The core problem that a number of Richard Rider fans do no want is the danger and a big worry that a "Nova" story without Rider but uses "Nova Corps Concepts" that is done well will succeed and just prolong the absence of the character. We've already seen how a mediocre "Nova Brand" character is not done very well but still makes guest appearances in prominent titles and has even been allowed to continued and push to issue #31. I think a series that does a bit better at the "Nova Brand" and "Nova Corps Concept" is still just a "reimagined substitution" until the real thing is back.
Why not instead spend the talent and creative energy to improve the original that would be well-received by the fan-base, attract new readers, and be acclaimed by industry critics?
Oh, yeah, that already happened in "Annihilation: Nova" and Nova Vol.4!!!
I've used Mobile Suit Gundam as a great example before. You have the new fans, and younger fans who are into the "wild and wacky" alternate universe A.C. era(Alternate Century) that uses many of the more canon, more serious U.C. era (Universal Century) concepts. Wars, dramas, conspiracies, and politics that make the UC era so popular with long-time fans. Bandai never entirely gives in to the new fan base and continually never lets down its loyal fan base. Bandai did not forget about those who made the Gundam franchise the success it is. They did not forget how they got there. They haven't sold out and they've never told the long-time Gundam fans to shut up, stop complaining, and just accept whatever Gundam they are producing.
Unlike Marvel Comics, who no longer genuinely cares about "long-time loyal fan bases". If they did, Richard Rider would still be around kicking butt and taking names as Nova Prime. Instead, Marvel pays more attention to the more trendy, more flashy hard-core fan bases for Squirrel Girl, Spider-Gwen, GOTG Concepts, etc because its all about popular hashtags and whats trending.

: That is where we differ, and I think is a
: core difference between Nova fans.
:
: I am a Richard Rider fan, true. My
: preference would be to have Richard "A
: Man Called Nova".
:
: But I am also interested in other Nova
: characters provided they are done well.

: I believe IG #4 was solicited a month or two
: back at this site via a link from
: Previews...but your best bet is to go
: directly to Dustin Weavers' direct Tumblr
: page and scroll down.
:
: The idea of "superhero family pet"
: is definitely spandex comic book hero cliche
: not to mention silly, but when you look at
: it from a disaster-survivor perspective,
: from even a military perspective, it does
: make a little sense.
:
: I know the Nova Corps Centurions are made up
: of intelligent lifeforms from all over the
: galaxy exactly like the GLC so I look at Zig
: Zag as more a Nova Corps asset that has been
: deputized to carry out Nova Corps Centurion
: functions to aid the actual Centurions the
: way a law enforcement K9 working dog would
: do. Like a military K9 would do on a
: military base or even what a special
: operations warfighter working dog would do
: in the battlefield. Yes, there are
: special-trained wardogs that parachute out
: of airplanes and jump out of helicopters
: right along with special operations
: warfighters.
:
: I am not totally "with" this SW IG
: series calling itself Infinity Gauntlet, but
: for the time being it is a better read than
: the just cancelled Nova Brand Concept book
: that wants to pass itself off as
: "Nova" or the GOTG book so
: desperately, shamelessly, milking itself off
: of the huge success of the film that was
: more based off the previous GOTG Vol.2
: series. Guardians of Knowhere is supposed to
: a book that will feel more like what DnA
: have done earlier. Well, that's the idea
: coming from from Bendis we are supposed to
: believe. I heard a rumor or read somewhere
: that it was Doctor Doom that supposedly
: killed the Celestial whose head became
: Knowhere so already Secret Wars is changing
: Marvel Earth 616 history.
:
: Once we see the family gets thier powers,
: the focus may end up with the young girl and
: we'll see if she will become another Sam
: Alexander-type character.
: I don't really expect the Nova Brand Family
: Concept to last long but then again, I did
: not think Sam Alexander last as long as he
: did. I really thought Richard Rider would
: have been back within 2-3 years as Nova
: Prime and continuing on with business as
: usual.
: My hope is that the Nova Brand Concept Nu
: Xandar Family is really just a temporary
: Secret Wars "cool What If" project
: and in the end does not hurt and hinder the
: return of Nova Prime Richard Rider, who is
: the whole reason there is a Marvel Comics
: Nova Corps Centurion in the first place.
:
: Bring back The Man Called Nova and forget
: about "Nova Brand Concepts".

: I am having a hard time finding that
: cover...
:
:
: --Previous Message--
: Its official: check out Zig Zag on the cover
: for IG #4, along with the series' alternate
: GOTG helping out. Over at hi sown Tumblr
: page, Dustin Weaver himself says he named
: the dog after a character from a webcomic he
: does.
:
: As I mentioned, I don't entirely think its
: that bad an idea(a funny & outdated
: idea, but not entirely out of the cosmic
: realm ...I would have been okay and along
: for the ride if Richard Rider himself was
: involved in the story(being a corpse doesn't
: count)with the family, etc. Cosmo's intro
: was welcome and DnA made it credible. We
: haven't seen how the family is deputized and
: acquire their Nova Corps powers yet but if
: even the family dog gets powers, well, to
: quote Weaver: "What's a superhero
: family without a superhero pet?"
: Had to LOL there for a few minutes at how
: corny and infantile that really sounds when
: I first read about it. Makes for great
: cartoons for the kiddies. I can't really
: hate on the artists like Weaver, or
: McGuiness, etc. though. They're just
: following their Marvel Mandate Marching
: Orders from Marvel Corporate, Disney, the
: bean counters and accountants.
: I've aways loved Weaver's technical
: illustrations and superb draftsmanship and I
: study his storytelling panels. I suck at
: storytelling but am okay with pin-up style
: stuff. I would have loved to have seen him
: on a regular Nova Prime/Richard Rider
: series.
:
: Too bad Marvel isn't invested in focusing on
: making Richard Rider a standout Marvel
: A-lister character the way DnA were
: passionate about and working so hard to
: achieve.

:
: Oh, come now. It's a dog acting like a dog.
: It is not a superdog or anything.
:
: If they slap a Nova helmet on it then I'm
: with you. But right now it's a family that
: has a dog, nothing else.
:

: Soon: we will bear witness to the Bakian
: German Shepard family dog officially become
: a Nova Corps member, lol.
:
: Sounds like a Japanese-style gourmet hot dog
: you can order at a food truck or hot dog
: stand!
:
: Wouldn't be so laughable if Marvel had
: allowed Richard Rider be part of the story.
: Not really a fan of the sci-fi/horror genre
: but one of my favorite all-time issues was
: Nova Vol.4 #8 when we first meet Cosmo and
: aware of the existence of Knowhere.
:
: But, yeah, artist Dustin Weaver's answer to
: Cosmo meets Krypto meets Nova Corps.
