Well, that theory was supported by Titus' "these humans instead of Jesse's kind" and New Warriors #1's hint that Sam maybe part-alien.

: Yeah, I'm also hesitant about the series. The
: Nova/Iron Man/X-Men crossover that Sean Ryan
: wrote really left a bad taste in my mouth.
: I'll pick it up to see where it goes,
: though.
:
: I agree that Jesse is probably Rich. The
: first solicitations indicate that something
: is different with Jesse.
:
: My guess is that when Rich had the doorway
: open between the Cancerverse and the 616,
: Thanos may have grabbed Rich and was able to
: control the Cosmic Cube energy and fling
: Rich through time. Remember Thanos had a CC
: when he returned to the 616 in Bendis's
: Avengers Assemble series.
:
: Rich brought back the Nova Force to the 616
: but his memory was lost. He retained enough
: NF to be a Nova and joined the Black Novas
: later.
:
: That's just a quick guess. Probably a bunch
: of holes in the theory.

: I toyed with buying this, if only to be the
: guy who gives something a fair shake...but I
: am still going to withhold.
:
: a./ This series has no shot for success with
: the listed creative team...Worldmind
: calculates 0.0% chance of survival.
:
: b./ Writer has already supplied
: disappointing Nova material to the table
: that , essentially, was one giant arc making
: fun of DnA Nova fans. (IMO at least)
:
: c./ I don't get what the heck Marvel has
: done with Jesse Alexander.
:
: At first, there was some cool stuff, like
: his chalkboard, why for years, he did not
: use his Nova Powers and "laid Low"
: in AZ. Why did he never rear his head during
: any Nova or Marvel Lore before. I mean why?
:
: Why did he seem to know Rocket and Gamora,
: yet the characters never mentioned him
: before? (In fact, the time he was shown with
: them neither character was even close to
: being active either)
:
: Why did Cosmo call him the "old
: Nova". If you forget, SW and TB also
: seemed to say "maybe Rich Rider is
: right under your nose" a few times or
: some such line.
:
: Why did he say he was the greatest centurion
: ever?
:
: Etc....etc... it all could have been cool.
:
: My Guess, still to this day, was Jesse was
: planned to be some sort of time flung
: Richard Rider. BUT I think this plan was
: deferred , scrapped or altered and strung
: out (maybe till now). As for why, I don't
: know. Maybe they just felt having a known
: version of Rider out there wouldn't make
: sense for a bit.Maybe they didnt like how a
: few of us had already guessed this. Maybe
: they were pissed off at Rider fans like Me
: and Timelord who have not loved every second
: of the stuff...I don't know.
:
: My guess...is we will see Jesse is Rich. But
: , still, I hope I'm wrong!
:
: (2nd guess) is he is ROBBIE
:
: (3rd) I like the idea of Jesse as some
: exiled alien, but we've already seen he
: wasnt that important in the Corps.
:
: I personally dislike the Jesse Alexander
: character.
:
: He fits horribly awkward within everything
: that happened prior to Vol, 4. Heck he fits
: awkwardly within vol. 4 for that matter as
: well. He's drawn exactly like an older
: version of Robbie or Rich Rider...string
: fans along. He had a lot in common with
: Rich. Worse, he's named after some bloke
: Jeph Loeb wrote scripts with in Heroes.
:
: Supposedly, he was an alcoholic, but that
: story line seems to be abandoned. (very
: sloppy story telling, and glossed over a
: serious issue) His own story line just got
: dragged out so unnaturally long, it lost all
: its steam and just came off as botched.
:
: I know this argument bothers some, but I'm
: still not cool with him letting Sam jet
: around as a 15 year old Nova with these mega
: enhanced powers risking his life with a high
: five and a "yahoo". As I've said,
: in the post Civil War Marvel, for me at
: least, I can't buy that as anything but
: irresponsible and a total violation of what
: Rich Rider stood for.
:
: Technically, Rich Rider choose death over
: letting an inexperienced Corps grow before
: it was trained properly. He walked from the
: corps over this topic. He would, in no way
: ever support a 15 year old Nova Corpsman ,
: who has almost killed his family several
: goofy times now, romp around with such
: powers.
:
: In short, Jesse Alexander spits in the face
: of everything Rich Rider stood for...and I'm
: not real up for his adventures.
:
: TO this day, It still bothers me, to no end
: really, how most of what Rich died for in
: Sam's book has been some reckless and
: selfish stuff.
:
: I'd like to see Sam Salvaged, but Marvel
: appears to have squandered a good break off
: point with Secret War to just pick up right
: where they left off...which is just an
: incredible ham fisted move.
:

: I'm not adding this to any pull list. Its
: such
: a typical "kiddified" Disney
: concept of "magic helmets" giving
: folks flight and so on. Quite clear, as from
: Sam's first run that Marvel continue to dumb
: down the superb Nova concepts from the good
: old days; shame as from glimpsing bits of
: Infinity Gauntlet, save for the dog, that
: was a step up.
:
: If Marvel had sense, they should go with a
: definitive Nova Corps book - get Rich back
: and get Marvel Cosmic back where it was when
: good quality comics were the norm. I won't
: however begrudge anyone who does follow this
: new series, its choice all folks have, but
: for me, a definate pass!
:

: I won't be buying it. Sad to say, but this
: does not appeal to me at all. What a
: terrible solicitation! They really appear to
: have dumbed down the Nova Concept.
