Towards the end I was buying issues on momentum only.
I don't care if they rectify bad storytelling in the last series. If they can find a way to make this one more interesting and fun than the last series then I'm content even if they don't answer unanswered questions.
Make the book good and I'll follow it. Make it more of the same and I think I'll lose interest.
More than anything I want to see Sam stop being an idiot. The whole last run was fallout of stupid things he's done.
Even now in the ANAD Avengers the opening story will be about fallout from a mistake Sam has made with Warbringer.
I'm tired of the "Young and foolish boy doesn't know how to be a hero" story and just want to see a story of someone I can root for.
If adding Jesse does that, fine. But if it is just TWO dumbasses in Nova uniforms, that doesn't cut it.

: Jesse needs major work to rectify himself as a
: character. First we have to get over what
: doesn’t really make sense about his
: timeline. Speaking here we have some
: indication he had a relationship with Cosmo
: (never been mentioned prior to Vol. 4) And
: definitely some indication he had a
: relationship with Rocket and Gamora (again
: very clunky in terms of how this is
: possible)
:
: Next, we would need more on the black Novas
: and what went on there. What we've gotten so
: far was not delivered well.
:
: Last, we need to understand the clunky
: character issues he had. I mean why did he
: retire from being a super hero? Just because
: he had a family? I mean a lot of superheroes
: have families! What happened to the
: drinking? Why was he so depressed? This also
: kind of conflicts with him allowing Sam to
: superhero around or just leaving the helmet
: not even locked up. (Again, clunky)
:
: Personally, that’s a lot to overcome. If
: marvel wants sort out his character...they
: need to get to work, because for now, he's a
: big monkey on the back in terms of ever even
: swallowing this material...and that even
: includes Sam.
:
: Lastly, I really don’t like the Jesse
: character because he is sorta based on this
: older version of Rich, perhaps sans the
: annihilation experience. He looks like him,
: he acts brash like Rich did, now he is even
: sporting an older Rich Style uniform that
: looks near exactly like his 3rd New Warriors
: Uniform, albeit Denarion rank. As I’ve
: said, an active Jesse in this role just
: makes the reason Rich “needs to be dead” all
: the more hollow and silly. In fact, I think
: this is so clunky, I am still convinced
: Jesse will be revealed to be some time flung
: version of Richard Rider.
:
: We will see what marvel does. As always, I
: have a feeling we will be very disappointed
: with where it goes...

: Well, I am imagining like a flashback on his
: days as a Nova, and possibly revealing that
: he's a Xandarian in his cadet days (and
: crashlanded on Earth and fell in love with
: Eva) that would make Sam as "first
: human hybrid who is both colored and had
: married parents (see Hulkling and Peter Quil
: who are both white and illegitimate child,
: though the former is green from Skrull
: heritage). Would be interesting if Grandma
: Alexander turned out to be a pissed-off
: Centurion and would get her equipment looted
: for Jesse's Nova costume.

:
: Picture for Nova #2 shows Sam and a dude in
: an Rider-style uniform.
:
: Synopsis is that it is Sam and Jesse.
:
: So effectively, this is a continuation of
: the cancelled Sam Alexander run.
:
: I am not sure I am up for that. I'll
: probably pick up the first one or two to
: see. But I was let down by the last run.
