This guy Ryan doesn't know his Nova history. Frankly, not sure if I want him working with Rider's legacy or wrapping up loose ends from vol. 4
He already seems to think Novas get their powers from the helmets, including even non- black novas. A small point, but still kinda a huge sign the guy never read any Rich Rider books or Nova lore. Heck his Sam knowledge seems weak too. He was stumped by a few questions Doug asked him..not impressed.
He can say Rider's dead..he can say he turned into a kymelian cross dresser or whatever...what I saw was Rich join with the Nova force ,a Cosmic cube, straddle Thanos, become the door and blink off into space. Ryan probably didn't even read that.
What I'm gonna do is bide my time until this guy and his lousy series fails and wait till someone good gets Nova who cares about bridging the new fans and the old together. I'm gonna save my bucks for somebody who cares about the lore.

: The article headline sounds hopeful but
: there is really sour news in here:
:
: "Nrama: I have to ask, because fans
: seem to demand it, will we see any sign of
: Richard Rider in the new Nova series?
:
: Ryan: Maybe? I don’t want to get people’s
: hopes up, like he’s going to be coming back
: from the dead or anything, but I’d like to
: fit Richard into the story somehow, to show
: Sam the legacy of the Novas that he’s now
: taking on."
:
: So it sounds like Sam will be learning about
: Richard Rider in more depth. I could
: envision maybe seeing some record or
: something. But it sounds to me like there
: is no hope of bringing Richard back in this
: series. Which is a real downer, because I
: was hoping that the series was going to have
: Sam investigating Nova origins (as promised)
: culminating is the rescue of Richard Rider.
:
: Now I have a sad.
