I don't think it is a trick. We've been waiting and hoping so long that it seems anything is too good to be true. But I think they have come to realize that there is more value in having both Nova's than either single one.
It was never an either or.
I am hoping that what we will see is that Sam is the first Centurion in a new Nova Corps and remains on a lot of Earth adventures with Rich out in the cosmic arena building the corps and having those sorts of adventures. With paths crossing from time to time.
I think bringing Rich back may be indicative of plans to see him in MCU. Sam was supposed to fill the Peter Parker role but never really filled it. But has his own appeal. I have always believed Sam was being developed to fill that gap in MCU. Now MCU has Spider-Man.
So if we see a Nova I think we'll see Richard Rider. My fingers are crossed that Thanos destroys Xandar and that Centurion Dey finds his way to Earth in a post credit scene.
But that is a lot of wishful thinking. For now, time to be content. We will see him monthly again this fall. As it should be.
: Knowing how Marvel Comics has been the past 6
: years since they got rid of and tossed
: Richard Rider, the Nova Prime, into the
: rubbish and tried to bring
: lightning-in-a-bottle with new kid, Sam
: Alexander, what is the catch for his
: returning in a brand new series, on
: Earth-616? "A Fan-Favorite
: Returns!" is a shout out to both
: long-time loyal fans who were very vocal as
: well as all fans of the character in general
: who simply wanted Rich to return even if it
: meant having both Novas in the same
: universe. Why the "olive branch"
: gesture from the higher ups who regularly
: insulted the long-time readers that
: constantly challenged the "new status
: quo" of Sam Alexander, the Black Super
: Nova? Why more qualified Cosmic Marvel
: writers like DnA were made to leave in order
: for higher-paid but less qualified Cosmic
: writers like Bendis and Loeb to take over
: and be part of the MCU Creative Committee?
: Is there going to be some Bait and Switch
: scheme down the road, as some are suspicious
: of? Have Rider fans be reeled in only to be
: had and be knee-jerked around? What's the
: catch? What is the trade off? Other than
: having both Novas appear in new series. We
: all know the old saying, "If it sounds
: too good to be true, it almost always
: is." The only thing that can be a
: positive possibility is that maybe there is
: plans and developments underway for Rich to
: be in the MCU. Marvel Now! 2.0 is mainly
: about the division from the Civil War
: II-aftermath. As some pointed out, Rich
: returns at a bad time(again)when another
: Civil War had just ended. Similar to the
: first Civil War, which he did not think very
: highly of and was very disappointed with
: many of the heroes he grew up admiring.
