Barrett, if you were one of the ones who helped us kids, all I can say is a very BIG thank you! PEACE!!! Kathy Williams

Harry: What I remember most about the 6-day war was that I was in the 7th grade and hell was breaking loose outside the base walls (I was on the beach row in the trailer park on base), kids from off-base were being herded down the road to find a place on base to stay because it wasn't safe for them to be off-base. We took in about 6 kids. We then were told to pack one suitcase each and that we would be airlifted to Germany. It was so dramatic. GI's were filling sandbags and were all around the housing area. It was a great feeling to know we were protected because we were so confused and didn't know what would happen next. My dad reassured us that all would be ok and we slept that night and got our bags packed the next morning. We waited on the front lawn for the base bus to transport us to the Airport and then we were flown to Germany. We never got to go back. Dad stayed there and came home several months later. He took care of so many details for us. We missed our friends and some we found later on, but it is still hard to imagine where everyone went.
