Aside from the suspected sources of leaks mentioned by Steve, there is also the possibility that, given the age of the vessel, the EXHAUST HOSE is the culprit. The spirl reinforcing wire will eventually rust through the hose material.
SOLUTION: Expose entire lenght of exhaust hose in the solon area. Run engine and locate leak. Cut out length of hose containing the leak. If above the cabinet you mentioned, I suggest one cut above cabinet and the other perhaps one foot forward. Make certain both cuts are relatively accessable. A well-equipped hardware store, frequented by farmers, will carry BRASS COUPLINGS WITH BOTH ENDS BARBED in your hose size, at a quite modest price. Obviously also needed are 4 hose clamps. Do not use PVC since, even with a rachet/socket, one cannot tighted clamps. Given the rediculous cost of exhaust hose, I suggest simply turning the old leaking piece of hose so leak will be on top and get another 20 years of use from it.
Although the job is rather straightforward, suggest others be out of earshot, since your vocabulary just may reach new depths.
Also I used 1/4" thick stainless steel plates to back up stanchions when I repaired my toerails. Instead of epoxy, I used 3M 5200 between fiberglass to seal gunwale.
: Be sure to check for rotten balsa where you've
: had leaks. After you remove whatever you
: can of the rotten balsa, mix up some epoxy
: goop to replace it. Drill out the old
: holes with an oversize bit and fill them
: with epoxy too. Then redrill the holes.
: If you're removing stanchions, consider
: putting plates under them. My boat just
: has big washers. And you can do all this
: work when your boat goes back in the water
: so you can drop a lot of tools
: overboard...

: Hello fellow Yankee owners. My Yankee 30
: (#93)
: is taking in quite a bit of water
: (rain/snow)into the cabinet above the
: range/oven at the low point of the exhaust
: hose. Additionally, I have splits in the
: toe rails at the joint (where two sections
: of the rail are scrafed together). I
: suspect that the water problem has several
: points of origin: the toe rail bolts, the
: stanchion bedding and perhaps port lights.
: Additionally, I have a mid-hatch that
: needs re-sealing. I have read all
: previous messages on these subjects...but
: wonder if there is further advice /
: knowledge out there. I'm in the yard next
: week...so time is of essence! Thanks.
