Posted by Bob Boynton on 9/25/2003, 12:18 pm, in reply to "Mast steps" I pulled my mast about 5 years ago and inspected the step and it looked fine, for being 25 years old I could see no problems. It is made of some kind of cast metal (aluminum?) that had some oxidation. I wire brushed it and painted it with some good quality epoxy pant and it looks great to this day. WhenI first bought the boat I noticed the mast bottom would fill up with water when it rained so I drilled a hole in the step for a drain, that may be something to look out for. --Previous Message--
