I put a strut on my boat and the added performance made all the work worthwhile. I obtained a blueprint of the strut from S and S and fabricated the strut from the blueprint. The strut must be angled over to the starboard and the cutless must be angled at, I believe, 7 degrees counterclockwise(looking down on the boat).
I have some pictures of this installation on my webpage. You can get the web address by going to the Yankee 30 "pictures page" and viewing the Andiamo pictures.
You will notice that my installation is exterior whereas the factory jobs are interior installations. The hull is 7/8" to 1" where I bolted through so there should be no problem with flexing.
I purchased te prop early and found that I could have put a 16 inch prop on and still had plenty of clearance.
