I recently had trouble with my Albin 0-22 starter/generator (Bosch). Starter failed. Turned out that the brushes were stuck but not worn out. Our local auto electric shop said that they frequently see stuck brushes in marine starters. I removed the cover over the brushes, gave them a gentle push, heard a slight snap and felt the brushes drop slightly, and we were back in business. Had the starter shop clean the unit up, just for good measure, for a minimal charge. Don't know if you've tryed that yet, but it sure beat replacing the whole unit.
