Ione moved the baby stay deck fitting from aft of the forward hatch to just forward of the hatch. The boat also has running backstays attached at the stay attacment level on the mast. I have no idea how this arrangement worked but even if you didn't fly a staysail this rig would aid in mast stability in heavy weather since the boat only has single lower shrouds. I have a staysail fitting 3/4 of the way up the mast and runnng backs on my boat.
